September 28 and 29, 2012

We’ve saved a
place for you at
PreSonuSphere.

Last fall, more than 200 PreSonus users left Baton Rouge knowing a lot more about StudioLive and Studio One. Our first PreSonuSphere was a smash hit!

But we’re not resting on our laurels. We received a lot of comments and suggestions, which we’ve incorporated into this year’s bigger-better-longer PreSonuSphere 2012.

Even more ways to learn!

By popular request, PreSonuSphere has been extended to two full days! Each day, there will be three “tracks” of simultaneous presentations, plus a continuous, hands-on “Ask the Experts” gallery.

If you can only make it for one day, fear not: We’ll repeat key presentations on both days. If you can attend both days, be assured that there’ll be enough unique, interesting classes to keep you fully occupied.

Same place but earlier in the fall.

PreSonuSphere 2012 will again be held at the beautiful Shaw Center for the Performing Arts in historic downtown Baton Rouge. Join us for this exceptional event on Friday, September 28, and Saturday, September 29! By July 20, we’ll have special hotel rates available on this page.

Even more distinguished presenters.

We’re still putting the roster together but we can tell you now that it will be a star-studded cast of experts from all over the country, plus the usual gang of PreSonus-ites.

And, like last year, the developers of Studio One are flying in from Hamburg, Germany, to schmooze with users and pick up suggestions. (Several Studio One 2 features were a direct result of PreSonuSphere attendees’ input.)

Food and music abound.

Both days start with a continental breakfast (included in your “tuition”).

This year’s Thursday (September 27) pre-PreSonuSphere Jambalaya Feed will be held on the Shaw Center’s fifth-floor, indoor-outdoor Terrace, which features a stunning view of the Mississippi River. Like last year, it’s free to Friday PreSonuSphere attendees.

But don’t eat too much too long, ‘cuz after that, downstairs in the main Shaw Center’s Manship Theatre, will be a free Cajun Swamp-Pop-flavored concert with open bar.

Driving/flying in on Friday for our Saturday session? Catch another concert in the Manship Theatre on Friday night! There’s even going to be a pre-concert class session that follows the onstage miking and StudioLive setup. And if you still haven’t gotten enough of our distinguished presenters by Saturday evening, we’re offering an optional PreSonuSchmooze dinner with the whole gang up on the Shaw Center Terrace.

You’re going to like Baton Rouge.

Within a few blocks of the Shaw Center are more than a dozen affordable restaurants and some hot-rocking clubs. If you’re into history, you’re within walking distance of our Old Capitol Building, museums, and the historic U.S. Kidd—the last remaining mint-condition WWII destroyer.

The Twitter hashtag for this event is #PreSonuSphere.

Introduction to the StudioLive System - iPad®, iPod®, Capture™, and More
Nobody has put it all together like we have: See the StudioLive 24.4.2, Virtual StudioLive, Capture recording, StudioLive Remote for iPad and QMix™ for iPhone® in action with the awesome live band Papa Grows Funk.

Mixing Papa Grows Funk – Live Tracks in Studio One
Needless to say, we had the laptop in action running Capture at last night’s concert. Now mix engineer Lu Rojas from Oak Street Recording in New Orleans uses Studio One to mix Papa Grows Funk’s live-recording tracks from Thursday night’s session.

Studio One 101 - Overview
Did you come to PreSonuSphere primarily for the StudioLive presentations? Well, it's time you got up to speed on the DAW that's overtaking its bloated competition. Product Manager Jonathan Hillman will show you the basics and workflow of Studio One including the Start page, setup, Song page, and Project page.

Studio One Hands-On
"Steadyb" (Byron Gaither) will walk you through creating a song in Studio One using loops, instruments, effects, and more.

9:45 - 10:30 a.m.

Break • Free coffee, water, and soft drinks in the Jones Walker Foyer.

10:30 - 10:45 a.m.

Virtual Soundcheck – Capture and StudioLive
One of the coolest features of Capture is being able to record a live band and then do a thorough "soundcheck" later. Using the Papa Grows Funk tracks recorded during Thursday night's concert, Ace Baker will get levels and effects set before the band shows up.

Studio One 2 and Beyond
Go behind the scenes with the Studio One 2 team in an interactive discussion about the future of Studio One. Lead developers Wolfgang Kundrus and Matthias Juwan, as well as software gurus Scott Harrell and Jonathan Hillman, will be on hand to reveal some new exciting stuff…but the main focus will be on fielding questions and gathering your invaluable feedback.

Song, Start-to-Finish 1 – Scratch Tracks and Preproduction
As the name suggests, we're going to create a Jordy Searcy song from start to finish. Rick Naqvi and Grammy-nominated producer and bassist Brent Milligan plan their strategy. Note: Space is limited. Get there early!

StudioLive Hands-On
Justin Spence shows you how to mix a band "hands-on" with the StudioLive. Add effects; create a monitor mix; load, copy, and save Fat Channel presets; record into Capture; and more.

10:45 a.m. - noon

Lunch • Maps of local restaurants and discount opportunities will be provided.

Noon - 1:15 p.m.

Mixing Monitors – Wedges and In-ears
Get an in-depth view at how Papa Grows Funk runs their own monitors for all of their shows. John Groe and Ace Baker will break down and explain the set up used at the concert the night before and all of the benefits that come with doing it this way.

Studio Acoustics with John Storyk
John Storyk, registered architect and acoustician and founding partner of Walters-Storyk Design Group, has provided design services for the professional audio and video recording community since the 1969 completion of Jimi Hendrix's Electric Ladyland Studios in New York City. No matter what size your studio is, John's insights can make it sound better.

Nimbit®: How to Grow Your Fan Base and Make Money with your Music
With all these presentations on how to MAKE music, we figured we'd include one on how to make some bucks from all your efforts. Now that access to Nimbit is built right into Studio One, it's super easy. Carl Jacobson shows you how to earn valuable money in your spare time. Note: Space is limited. Get there early!

Learn mic'ing and production, production techniques, Studio One tips, and more.

Melodyne in Studio One 2 Professional
Celemony modestly describes Melodyne Essential as "a basic pitch-editing and timing tool." While best known for correcting off-key vocals, out-of-tune melodic instruments, and timing errors, it's WAY more than that. Ray Williams, live and direct from Celemony, will show you how to get the most out of it in Studio One 2 Professional.

Hum, Noise, and Things That Go BZZZZTTT
Somehow veteran journalist and soundman Mike Rivers always gets stuck with the prosaic-sounding presentation titles. But he sure makes them interesting! Hum, buzz, and seemingly random bursts of random noise all have different causes. Learn to recognize, define and solve noise issues.

StudioLive Hands-On
Justin Spence shows you how to mix a band "hands-on" with the StudioLive. Add effects; create a monitor mix; load, copy, and save Fat Channel presets; record into Capture; and more.
